- Complete Biography of the Band and its
aims
Anima In Fiamme represent the natural evolution and prosecution of our
previous Gothic Band NADIR. Nadir has been an important starting point,
because with this project we have got again the possibility to express
our emotions and to recreate the painful and obscure atmospheres
we have musically grown in. It has happened after some years of inactivity
or militancy in Bands musically far from our real nature and
compositive vein.
Anima In Fiamme were born from that project, but we changed in a substantial
way our artistic direction and we gave more space to Classic influences
and, meanwhile, Industrial and Apocaliptic tunes. This melting of apparently
in contrast atmospheres then has become the peculiarity that makes our
sound more personal.
Our Music attempts to be Classical (in the literal meaning of the term)
even if we are aware of the fact that we cant reach the summits
explored only by the Masters of the Past. Music, in which the Classic
element is not a reference or a background, but the predominant element,
even if it is often contaminated, and made more gloomy, by the use of
Industrial sonorities.
In this way, we wish to evoke dismal and melancholy landscapes, but also
transmit a sense of harmonious Purity: showing the most charming, and
with aesthetic learnings, side of Darkness.
- Tell me all about your enchanting promo
tape: how were the different tracks (Music and Lyrics) for the different
compilations they are featured in born? And what about the execution of
the cover Michael?
The promo we have sent around should contain some of tracks that should
be featured on our debut album, plus Ferite in the version
for the compilation of the Italian Label Oktagon; but, as during the production
of the tape as after having sent the tape to some Labels, we have had
several proposals of participation to others compilation released in different
parts of the world: 10 years of Madness in DCD for the Russian
Achtung Baby! that should be released in Germany; Chain DLK,
enclosed to the same magazine; On the Brink of Infinity for
the American Chthonic Streams, Label of Derek Rush of Dream Into Dust.
Due to this choice, some of the tracks destined to the debut album have
been used for the mentioned compilations.
Generally, the songs of Anima In Fiamme derive from a simple cue for guitar
or piano, we develop and devise it, and we harmonize it until the definitive
version. This process in our case, not having always a song-structure
(above all for the long tracks) results pretty long, but I guess we are
gratified by the final result.
The lyrics are intimist, they tell about Pain and Melancholy, with an
impassioned and intense approach, and they show a vision of Life as a
Storm to dominate yet to be dragged in. A conception of Life that exhalts
the Art as its own Muse and perceives itself in continuity with the Art
of the 800 (Romantic and Decadent) and with the Aristocratic culture
of the 700.
Concerning the track Michael, cover of the historical Apocalyptic-Folk
Band FIRE+ICE (the leader Ian Read has been a member of the first Sol
Invictus and has sung on several albums of Current 93): it is a track
we perceived as magick since the first listening, soaked in medieval charm.
It has been one of the first cover we tried out, through a version near
to the one present on Trees in Winter (Sol Invictus), but
with a more personal and alive violin. When we choose to record
it in Studio (first for the album and then for Achtung Baby!),
we have decided to render it more gloomy and cathedral through
the use of an only voice, organ and kettledrum. Through this cover we
did a sort of tribute to FIRE+ICE, an enchanting and sincere Band, and
in particular to Ian Read, which has permitted to us to breath the scents
and to listen to the voices of the Ancient.
In the future we will participate to the compilation Intimations
of Immortality Vol. 5 for the Label Energeia (release scheduled
for Dec.1999/Gen.2000)
- As I noticed that the tracks present on
the promo tape have a pretty different style each other, I would like
to know which will be the direction of the new compositions
We believe that the tracks of the promo (a part from the first version
of Ferite, recorded 6 months early and really more noisy),
have got , notwithstanding the apparent diversity, many common points.
The Classic or Classical element is what makes them merged: an element
more or less marked, that ranges over the Baroque motets (Ieratico
Buio) to the scores 800-inspired (Come Fiore Reciso,
Il Dolore), even if some tracks have got an Apocalyptic Substratum.
According to us, the songs represent different manifestations of an unique
way of conceive and compose Music, related to different moods and emotions.
The next songs, that should be recorded in November/December, will have,
as in the typical style of the Band, a fundamental structure made of Classic
instruments and sonorities.
- Space free to thoughts, words and of course
messages to the Labels searching for valid Bands to produce
We are still searching for a valid Label to produce in a serious and decorous
way our debut album: a sufficient number of copies, a professional graphic
and will of distribute and advertise the work. We think not these are
exaggerated demands but the essential requirement to produce s good work
and make a Label proud of its name.
It is useless to add that we are pretty tradizionalist, refusing to release
on CD-R: we see the album as an official product, different
from a promo or a demo simply for the characteristics mentioned above.
As for us, we do guarantee a carefully made work, and the will to exert
ourselves at our best to obtain the maximum result.
Moreover, we hope to succeed in contacting as soon as possible agencies
or clubs to promote our Live activity, vital lymph both for us and for
the listeners.
We do invite anyone interested to the production of the album, to booking
concerts or simply to listen to our Music to keep in touch.
We thank everyone has kept in touch and supported us and who, like Twilight
Realm, has showed interest in our Music.
