Anima In Fiamme – Promo 99
‘Black Velvet chokes my Mind…Bitter Tears flow down my face…’ (translation taken from ‘Ieratico Buio’). A delicate marriage between Classical-Baroque and Modern Ambient tunes, melted together to reach a common aim: digging, digging down in the deep, in the deep of the Pain that tears the Illuminated Souls. 5 polish compositions present in 6 different compilations (since we have 2 versions of ‘Ferite’, and I personally prefer the 2nd one more funereal and with disquieting whispers…): 5 sublime acts plus a fabulous cover of ‘Michael’ (Fire+Ice).

ANIMA POETAE – “Same” Demo’98
Born during the Winter ’96 as duo, Anima Poetae completed their line-up in 1997, when the violinist Simone joined the Band. The result is this 35 minutes debut demo, which contains an Intro and an Outro (elaborated with computer), 3 songs composed by the original line-up and an instrumental composition for classic guitars. Decadent and passionate Music, exalted by my dear violin (the saddest instrument ever), acoustic guitar and a whispered effective voice (I would avoid the rare screams in the future, they ruined the immaculate velvet atmosphere of your compositions!). Even if the recording isn’t that good, emotionally speaking, this demo has perfectly reached its aim!

C
CROWHEAD – ‘Love Letter’ DEMO CD’2000 (Neodawn Productions)
From the ashes of the eclectic Shadow Dancers a new creature has fructified…a bitter fruit, a delicate and soft scream of Pain…this is in short Crowhead, melancholy and slow goth metal…taste this fruit if you are a romantic Soul, taste it and be slave of this vortex of joyless emotions and charming atmospheres…an excellent 3-track demo-Cd, with a godly voice performance…I’m looking forward to hear more about ‘Crowhead’!!!

D
DEN – “Odinns Ring” EP ’98
5 compositions of minimal ritual ambient, hypnotic, oneiric, influenced by medieval tunes…as the twilight conquers the weak light of the dying day once again, a soft mist penetrates in your weak flesh, and the spirits begin to dance in circle...

G
GOTHICA – ‘Proserpina’ Demo ’98
Born in 1994, after some changes of line-up, they recorded their first demo tape and now they present us this stunning opera made of 8 impassioned songs (Dead Can Dance docet!) enriched by the poems of the very talented female singer Alessandra (except ‘Proserpina’ by Dante Gabriele Rossetti and ‘The Grave’ by Gustavo Adolfo Bècquer). Oneiric ethereal interpreted by the charming voice of Alessandra (just listen to ‘Nothingness’!) and enriched by ‘tribal’ and ‘Arabian’ rhythms, soft keyboards and an hypnotic male voice…
Well, their talent has conquered the Cold Meat Industry family as they now are recording the debut full length for the Swedish Label, more on these pages soon!

M
MACHINA COELI – ‘Finitor Virus Nostri’ Demo-CD ’99
What a surprise! There’s a ‘nephew’ of Mortiis in my dirty city! Yez, this solo project reminds to the golden times of the Norse Elf. A 8-tracks warrior’s tale: instrumental funereal marches, medieval tunes and classical piano escapades that converge in the final spoken Epilogue, the quest of the Ideal!

MANDYLION – ‘Haunted Heart’ Demo-CD ’99
Mandylion has born in the grey mist’s veiled Autumn 1997 by the union of two other Bands, Soliloquy and Encined, and as the Autumn leaves felt, the tree of Mandylion prepared to fructify this little pearl of melancholy, ready in June ’99. Doom-heavy metal (with a strong work of guitars, just listen to ‘Fountain’) with clean vocals, 4 nocturnal acts. ‘As ghosts of night would grace the Moon…’
